Synapse Overclocking undervolt slider missing - Razer Blade 16 2023 | Razer Insider (2024)

Page 1/1

The Blade 16 2.01 BIOS release notes list one change: “Enable undervolt protection”. That’s why the slider is gone. They intentionally removed it.

Ah, dang, I hadn't looked at that as closely as I should have! I assume that isn't an 'option' in BIOS either so now we're stuck with whatever Razer decide to set Synapse Overclocking undervolt slider missing - Razer Blade 16 2023 | Razer Insider (1) I guess there are some methods I can try that ‘some consider unnatural’ when I have the time to put into it…

So, in that case, what is the point of the overclocking panel in Synapse? If you wanted lower power limits I assume the lower power modes provide that, and without undervolting the ability to increase power limits is pretty useless!

Yeah, I did the same thing and posted a thread about it a few hours ago. I was wondering what happened until i went back and read the bios notes. Can we downgrade?

The support folks seem pretty unkeen to provide a downgrade option, but also they seem to be treating this as ‘unexpected’ behaviour so perhaps there will be some form of fix..

I just switched from a 14 to 16 and when I first set the computer up I undervolted a bit. After all of the new computer updates were completed I went back into Synapse and noticed the slider was gone. I’m just glad to see this post.I thought I was losing my mind.

For clarity, before I download TS, Razer has left it unlocked and only removed the option in Synapse, correct?

*Edit* They haven’t locked the CPU. OP, you can use ThrottleStop or similar program to undervolt. Actually, TS is more usable than Synapse’s options anyway.

Unfortunately not in my case!

I think maybe you have only updated Synapse and not applied the Firmware (BIOS) update 2.01? If so, great, leave it that way and you will be able to continue undervolting with TS!

On the updated Synapse and BIOS 2.01 I am sad to confirm that the undervolt protection of the CPU is activated. In Synapse, the slider is gone, in Intel XTU there are warnings and the voltage cannot be set lower than the defaut, and in ThrottleStop, while the programme allows a negative voltatge to be set, it is not applied to the CPU - the offset remains at 0.000V regardless of what negative value is set :/

Yeaaa...so, I just confirmed I have 2.01.

I went into TS and made the undervolt change, saved it, reopened the FIVR control and my undervolt change was still there.

BUT, when I closed and reopened TS the values were back to default. So, it looks like you're right.

On 9/27 Razer released an updated Bios that added undervolting protection option. This replaced the undervolting protection option in synapse.

Thank you for the fix Razer.

Excellent! Thanks for sorting this out Razer.
The BIOS update did weird stuff to my machine (I think the initial memory re-training messed up) but now I have it working there’s a significant improvement to the thermals using XTU to undervolt and tweak a little. Getting 31000+ on Cinebench R23 :)

My “new” replacement blade 16 still spikes to 104c. Elevated back with fans on full blast. Running boost/high, which is necessary to enable full fans.

I posted about it. I think the only answer is a full repaste with ptm7950 to replace the peanut butter razer is using on this laptop.

Even balanced with full fans it spikes up to 98c. So its not like less is more...

Hi guys! I had ‘AutoUpdate’ enabled on Synapse but I’ve been lazy to ‘firmware update’ pop ups. I still able to see the cpu overlocking. Am I still ok?! The sliders under overlooking isn’t something I’ve seen. Anyone possibly explain each slider, turbo boost short power max, turbo boost power max and turbo boost time windows?? It’s labeled as W, what would 1W=??mV or V. What does the time in (s) do/used??

thanks so much! I currently experiencing crashes with Harry-potter game after only 1.5hours. Time to undervolt!! Ty

Hate to resurrect a dead thread, but I’m desperate to find some solutions to the overheating problems as well and came across this, as it is still 100% applicable today. I have disabled the undervolt protection in the BIOS, and I have also disabled core isolation and hyper-V, but the Razer software still gives me the “System Incompatibility” error popup:

Does anyone have a work-around or fix for that?

Double check that you have it disabled in Bios.

UPDATE: So even though I have the “Windows Hypervisor Platform” option disabled already, I also had to disable “Virtual Machine Platform” (and reboot), and now it works. Note that you can keep “Windows Susbsystem for Linux” enabled to unlock the underclocking settings.

Thanks a lot , I had the same issue and turning off Virtual Machine platform solved it.

Hi!

I bought a Razer 16 one weeks ago, of course I automatically installed ThrottleStop as usual on my every gamer laptop. Firstly only to check temperatures, but yesterday I decided the time has come for a bit undervolting.XD

But you say, this isn't work now? I've BIOS 2.03 atm.

Regards!
